SIN Customs Artist – Ryan Curtis
Drawing cars has always been a passion for Ryan and from an early age he decided cars would be his life, and traded in the good ol’ bat and ball for Hot Wheels cars. Not growing up in a family obsessed with cars, Ryan turned to his own devices and began drawing cars, that passion has developed into an art lifestyle for Ryan today. Ryan founded SIN Customs after spending 15 years as an Graphic Designer and Art Director within the print and advertising industry, when Ryan felt that it was time for a change. Taking his childhood passion for custom automobiles, he started automotiveSIN Customs, based on the online magazine automotiveSIN.com he published in his spare time. AutomotiveSIN magazine is now know as SIN Magazine and continues as part of the SIN Customs brand, and if you have a chance you can still find Ryan wandering shows taking pictures and shooting features when time permits.
As any automotive enthusiast Ryan has a garage full of ongoing projects, which currently includ a 1962 Studebaker Lark that are being built for his wife, a 1970 Ford F-100 just waiting for its turn on his to do list, and his long time truck a 1995 Chevy S10. With all these on-going projects you can be assured that when Ryan is not drawing cars he is working on them.

SIN Customs had the wonderful opportunity again this year to paint another tin sign for the annual Vintage Torque Fest Charity Auction benefiting the Helping Hanna's Heart Foundation. The show is held in Dubuque, Iowa May 3-5, 2013. For all of the show details be sure to check out their website.
With the tin this year being a surfboard, my thoughts went instantly to the Surfit created by Ed Roth. With that in mind, I decided to pay tribute to the Surfit this year with my painting titled "Surfit-Us" featuring nothing less than the Surfit looking on as Rat Fink catches some gnarly waves on a sunny day. The painting was created using a mix of automotive urethanes, pearls and metal-flakes that give this painting a unique look and feel in person. If you have plans on attending the show be sure to check out "Surfit-Us" and the many other painted tins and while your there be sure to take part in the auction. You could be walking away with a killer original piece of art, and supporting a good cause.
